What a delight to pick up Ms Willow’s books! Well-written, good clean stories, wholesome entertainment with a message.

This story contains a message of hope, of redemption for even the most unlovable people in our lives. Mary, our narrator, works at Clarkson’s Department Store. Her boss, Monika Hell, fits her name to a Tee. She’s an angry, mean-spirited woman who reminds me of Scrooge, making all the Bob Cratchits in her life miserable.

When Monika gets kidnapped on Christmas Eve, by an angel trying to earn his wings, I wasn’t sure where this story was headed, whether it was a new take on the Scrooge story or It’s a Wonderful Life. But the similarities to these traditional tales are few. Ms. Willow takes us through unexpected twists and turns in telling Monika’s story.

Monika wakes up half way across the country with no ID, no money, and nowhere to turn for help. Not even the cops will believe her story, and this woman accustomed to luxuries in her life is forced to accept help from a homeless shelter. Monika’s guardian angel certainly has his work cut out for him in trying to change this hardened heart.

There’s so much more to the story — a cop who wants to believe her story, Terry at the shelter, a blossoming romance, and the happenings back at Clarkson’s, where Mary and her co-worker, Cortney, cover for Monika in her absence.

Hell Christmas The Hell Tales Book 1 edition by Cynthia P Willow Carol Fountain Religion Spirituality eBooks Reviews

I enjoy the Christian romance genre so choose this book when it was offered for free on my kindle. It was much more interesting than a sweet romance. The story line was clever and well written. The characters growth was realistic. I enjoyed it so much I read it in one sitting while home I'll. Read it, you'll enjoy it. A nice Christian story but definitely not preachy.
Monika's is.... and she is that on wheels to begin with. I have to admit, this book wouldn't have appealed to me simply because of the name, but I am so glad I gave it a chance. This story bounces around a bit, but quickly draws you in. The characters come to life right off the pages and you can envision what's happening in this beautifully written story. Angels on earth put here for the sole purpose of protecting those they are charged with - characters who are transformed because of God's never ending love. A shining example of the golden rule and treating others as you would have them treat you. So many wonderful scenes and heartfelt moments... this is a must read!
Let's be honest everyone knows the story of Scrooge. Every writer has their own take on the story even if they haven't written it. I thought the name was intriguing that's what got me to pick this one up. Boy am I glad I did. Cynthia has a way of making the Scrooge concept new and fresh. Monica Hell is a little bit Scrooge and a whole lot well,... witch. But deep down she just needs to find the love of God and someone who will care about her. The fact that it takes an angel to kidnap her to get her to that point is AWESOME. I mean who knew Angels were Kidnappers? Brings a whole new spin to Alien abduction. A great little read any time of year but even better around the holidays. Like most love stories it is a bit predictable both the main plot and the side plot. Still a fun read and a great premise.
I absolutely LOVED this book! It's a MUST read! And it would be perfect for a Christmas gift. It's a story that will make you believe in miracles again. I bought it on kindle but loved it so much that I'm buying the paperback for myself and purchasing some for friends and family that I think will love it. I will say this though, make sure you sit down with a cup of cocoa or coffee and have plenty of time to read. Because I can assure you, it's one that you won't be able to put down. When first reading the description of the book I was thinking, it's just going to be another Scrooge or Grinch rip off story. But it's definitely NOT! Do yourself a favor and get this book.
I really enjoyed this holiday read. The narrating character was engaging and started out working for Ms. Hell--literally, Monika Hell who really gave it to most anyone around. Then the story turned into an unexpected journey and I thought, "This is a kind of Scrooge story," because Ms. Hell certainly was the Scroogiest and in for a rude awakening which I was glad to see coming to her. None of the plot elements followed A Christmas Carol, though.

After a few more well laid plot turns I thought, "it's kind of like 'It's a Wonderful Life,'" except no one had one of those. Main characters included the divorcee, the orphan, and the widower. A lot of rough lives going with nary a do-over for the night in sight.

Some how themes of classic Christmas stories were woven throughout the book which was unlike them all. Still it left me hopeful and feeling a little touched by an angel.
This story is awesome!!! I give it a 5 star rating!!! I felt like I knew the characters personally. The storyline flowed steadily. It's one of those kind that you can't wait to see what happens next!! Cindee, I loved this book and can't wait to start the next one, Hell's Hallway!! I've already got it in my library so as soon as I get the chance today, I will get started on it!! Folks...you just gotta read this!!!
I really enjoyed reading this book over the holidays. I especially enjoyed the tragic backstory of Justin and his wife. What can I say? I'm a sucker for tragic back stories. I got a kick out of the idea that Cynthia's story would start to seem a bit formulaic and then BAM! She hit me with a twist I never expected. Especially the ending (no spoilers...read it if you want to know) with something I did not see coming. I thought the fact that this was a romance but without any suggestion of sex outside marriage was quite refreshing. I was amused by the tough cop, Justin and the irritable, selfish, stick up her butt, Monika Hell. It was kind of fun watching her change into someone she was meant to be but still retain the characteristics that made her far from a push over. And Justin...~sigh~ A hero worth falling for, for certain.

Thank you, Ms. Willow, for a great read!
